John Cicerello, Managing Member, has extensive experience in the real estate investment, consulting and asset management areas over the past 25 years. His investment background covers a diverse array of project and deal types across the US, both institutional and entrepreneurial in nature. He has structured and restructured a multitude of real estate transactions 

 
Mr. Cicerello’s career began as an audit accountant for a Big Eight firm during which time he became a Certified Public Accountant.  He began his career in the real estate industry after he earned an MBA in 1983. As an investment banker at E.F. Hutton Properties (1984-1987), he was involved in multiple real estate transactions in both an agency and principal capacity. Working as a Vice President for Shearson Lehman Hutton in 1988, he was given the in-house responsibility for rationalizing the consolidation of over 1.5 million sf of merger-related excess office space in New York City. 

 
As a Vice President at  Deutsche Bank Capital Corp. (1988-1990), Cicerello  was responsible for the acquisition and asset management of over $400 million of office properties throughout the southern  and western  U.S. As a Senior Vice President at Odin Management Company (1991-1998), Cicerello directed the restructuring, repositioning and recapitalization of a $500 million distressed commercial  property portfolio.

Since forming Borell Associates in 1998, Cicerello has represented individuals and institutions as a consultant on various real estate transactions including:  acquisitions, developments, leases, joint-ventures, financings, dispositions and restructurings. Clients include New York City Economic Development Corporation, Albanese Development, Spinnaker Companies, the Manocherian Organization, Lehman Brothers, Cherokee Investment Partners, Blum Realty Ventures,  Keen Consultants and the Collegiate Church Corporation.  He specializes in underwriting very complex projects all over the US. These transactions (existing and developmental) in aggregate represent approximately $1.0 billion in project costs.
 

Cicerello is a licensed real estate broker in  New York State.  He earned his BBA from Baruch College of CUNY as Magna cum laude and his MBA from New York University with a concentration in finance. Additionally, he is a faculty member at the New York University  Schack Real Estate Institute and was the recipient of its Teaching Excellence Award in 2002.
